Bookoholic...are you??

I am a person who has developed this recent habit of reading books. I wasn't really a book-o-holic earlier but now I feel like reading every book I find. Bookstores according to my opinion are one of the best stress relievers. I genuinely love visiting bookstores. In fact, I can spend a whole day in a bookstore and I actually did it once! Bookstores can really do that magic on me. I just finished reading "The Diary of a young girl: Anne Frank" few days ago and I must say it is indeed one of those rare books which I would like to re-read. Having developed this reading habit, I actually realize now how a book can help a lonely man. Yea its true. One suddenly realizes after reading a good book that he is not the only one who thinks a certain way but there are other people too who have the same views as he has. And that's the point where he starts feeling the presence of a companion..intangible one though! Well, this is exactly what I feel after reading a good book. It feels the best when I am actually able to relate myself to the protagonist and so much so that I start wondering whether I was on the author's mind while he was writing the book. It definitely seems funny but that truly is the time when I feel that I am not only reading a book blandly but also enjoying it thoroughly. What is the use of doing something you don't love? This reminds of the hackneyed line- "Do what you love and love what you do!" . Don't read those novels which don't interest you. Read instead those which you think you will like and I bet you would enjoy reading it a thousand times more than the famous ones! That doesnt really mean that all famous books are dull but what I mean here is read those books which suits you. Books can make you know about things that you didn't have an iota of idea about before and can help you deal with your life in a much better way like you never could before! So stop reading this article and grab a book for yourself to experience what you haven't ever experienced before. :)

Miles to go before I sleep....

I have realised over these years that it is more important to have a few closed friends than a big friend circle. Well, I am an engineering student in my final year and these 4 years of college have made me realise my priorities in life. I was this little girl who couldnt even tie up the laces of her converse when i had gotten into my college. But every single thing changed gradually and it was so gradual that i didnt even realise when it happened. And now when I see myself, it just reminds me of the line- "miles to go before i sleep" . Life is indeed very very unpredictable. I had lots and lots of friends when I was a sophomore whom I considered as the ones i can always count on. But eventually i realised that God truly gives us the people we need and not the people we want. Those friends were the ones who made me stronger and independent. They were the ones who made me understand that a person doesnt really need "count-on-you" friends! Those who were there will be there for you and those who were not would never be for you. Secondly, those friends made me realise what trust truly is. I can now atleast understand who is pretending and who is not. It would be very cynical of me if I dont mention those who were really there for me throughout and even they made me learn wonderful things! And now I feel that there is something to learn from every single person around you. As all of you must be knowing, it is very hot in kolkata now and this afternoon when i was going to my college in a rickshaw, I felt the tinge more when i saw the rickshaw-wala sweating heavily and then I realised that the man works way harder than I do. He had no other option but to do his job under the scorching heat and he was doing it for 20 bucks. And i get 500 bucks from my dad each week without really doing anything but dozing off and watching tv at home. On reaching my classroom, I saw this highly qualified aged man teaching the class "biochemical engineering" and almost begging for few attentive ears. I was truly dazzled by his forbearance and patience. Does he really need those attentive ears? He doesnt. He already has enough dough. He could have very easily enjoyed holidaying now if he had wanted. But he didnt. Teaching is what he enjoys doing and thats the reason why he does it without really bothering about the hard work and money. So some do it for money while others do it for passion. But whatever the reason is, they all do it. Hats off to all those who believe that sincerety brings satisfaction at the end of the day.I have indeed miles to go before I sleep...

Confessions to Him

Dear Him,

Oh several times I've thought
to tell you how I feel,
but today is the chance I've got
to break that restrictive seal.

I wish I could tell you
how much you mean to me,
just like the sandy shore
which completes the sea.

Sometimes I wonder why do you care?
Or do I even deserve this share?
But all of those times you are there
to make me believe that everything is fair.

So today I would like to tell you that
its your support,care and affection
along with those bundles of laughter and chit-chat,
that has taken me a little closer to perfection.

Yours,
Her

I have a dream!

I have a dream,

A dream where we are together,

You and me …

in our world of love and laughter.

Our world though little

Seems heaven to me,

A utopian place it is for us

Just like the azure sky for the birds flying free.

Yes you are the one,

I feel at peace to be with.

And the one you are,

who can never care less not even a ton.

All I wish today is for the dream to come true,

The beautiful world of you and me could never be bidden adieu.

Perfectionist Aamir Khan…a little imperfect this time!

Well it all starts with “potty” in our very own dilli and hence the name DELHI-BELLY!! The movie revolves around the lives of three luchha Delhi guys.

  • Tashi aka Imran Khan , a journalist by profession, is soon to tie the knot with his oh-so-hot girlfriend Soni aka Shenaz Treasury, whose hello tune surely doesn’t fail to reflect her bellyaching nature!;)
  • Arun aka Vir Das aka “The Cartoonist” has nothing better to do than increasing the smile percentage of a banana (drawn by him) as per the orders given by his ban-gaali boss!
  • Nitin aka Kunal Roy Kapoor is a serious loose motion se pereshan guy! Had he not been a photographer, he wd hv surely been the tees maar khan!

Soni gets the job of sending a dibba from a gora Vladmir to some Delhi-based gunde without actually knowing what’s inside the dibba! After this dibba reaches Tashi’s room, true shit starts happening! Serious loose-potty se pereshan Nitin ’s stool test bottle and the moolyawan dibba get exchanged, dibba pathological lab ke andar aur stool test bottle gunde ke ghar! The story simply narrates how the shit finally gets flushed out! But wait…should I take back the word “story”? Delhi-Belly doesn’t really have a story to narrate..kahani kehni thi toh kah di types! And is it truly capable of giving one a belly laugh??Nah…..gaalis can be fun to listen to .. but hasne haasane ke kuch aur tarike hote hai! An overall fun-to-watch movie but die-hard fans of Aamir Khan surely expect a lot more from him!!

As YOU like it!!

Quotes are something that have inspired me,tickled my funny bone, made me face difficult situations with confidence, helped me take life lightly and a lot many other things from my very salad days! So here are some of my favorite quotes:-
  • Don't see others doing better than you.Beat your own records daily because success is a fight between you and yourself.
  • A critic is a legless man who teaches running.
  • Nothing lasts forever. All good things actually come to an end. The friend you trust the most doesn't remain the same way forever, the feeling you get after getting a new job deceases, the sweet days of childhood dies fast, the wonderful feeling of falling in love perishes eventually....nothing truly lasts forever..nothing at all.
  • Why trudge through the sludge or walk through a tangled maze if it's possible to walk around? Happiness can be often increased by avoiding the unnecessary.
  • Finish each day and be done with it.. You have done what you could. Some blenders and absurdities did creep in. Forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow will be a new day. Begin it serenely and too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.
  • If you love something let it go. If it comes back to you it's yours. If it doesn't, it never was and it's not meant to be.
  • Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over,it became a butterfly.
  • She will chase you around for a while; but there's gonna be a day when she would stop running in circles around you. She is going to get over you and at that very moment you are going to wish you had let her catch you.

Multi-tasking A.K.A. screwing up everything!

I have always thought of becoming this one person who would be adroit at everything..so it was one of those Sundays while i was returning from my tuition, one of my friends startd askin "heyy u interested in teaching foreign students? dere s dis one site cld tutorvista..where u cud earn thousands !!" And naturally I started feeling wow! I was utterly impressed by her idea as I was actually searching for a tuition(i.e to teach somebody). After reaching home, the first thing I did was logging in to tutorvista.com..even took a test there..passed it and got a reply to sit for an interview! With that reply came some conditions too..."Every tutor will have to teach for atleast 4 hrs." :O :O
First thought-"Ohh thats nuthin! I will manage no matter what!"
A friend calls me up...
Friend-"Do you hv a driving license? they hv askd for it"
Tongue-"No..but college id wud do!"
Mind-"Wat d hell wud dey do wid a driving license? wud i b teaching maths or giving them driving lessons?"
Friend-"U hv ur tuitions too..hw r u going to devote those 4 hrs?"
MIND+TONGUE-"Gosh! I neva thot abt it..shit its neva gonna happen...i need to set my priorities first..GATE is far more important than al dis"

Well if you think that juggling a lot many things can make you a superman, you are wrong!! Multi-tasking can be one hell of a chore to be perfect at though being so very revered in our society. It could be really dangerous as it mostly leads to mediocrity at all the things you are juggling with and excellence at none! It happens to almost everyone of us that we find our keys missing or id cards missing! Havent you ever sent a text message to the wrong person? All this could have happened due to the distractions u were having while you were placing those keys or id cards sumwhere or texting sumone!!
The term "multitasking" originated in the computer engineering industry. It was used to refer the ability of a microprocessor to apparently process several tasks simultaneously. Although it proved to be very efficient for computers, it is a bit too risky for human beings. Focusing and multi-tasking can never be done congruously. When one portion of our brain tries focusing on something, the other pings- "Have u bought mum's bday gift?" or "When will you complete your assignment?" or "When will you write your journal?" etc! This leads to nothing but as they say-

“Multi-tasking - Screwing everything up simultaneously.”

The key is to plan everything beforehand and staying organized. Making a list of the things to do and allocating a certain amount of time to each listed thing can prove to be very beneficial. One can then easily focus on the thing at hand and after successfully completing it can move on to the next! So make that multi-tasking~ planned-tasking and bask in its glory! :)
