I have always thought of becoming this one person who would be adroit at everything..so it was one of those Sundays while i was returning from my tuition, one of my friends startd askin "heyy u interested in teaching foreign students? dere s dis one site cld tutorvista..where u cud earn thousands !!" And naturally I started feeling wow! I was utterly impressed by her idea as I was actually searching for a tuition(i.e to teach somebody). After reaching home, the first thing I did was logging in to tutorvista.com..even took a test there..passed it and got a reply to sit for an interview! With that reply came some conditions too..."Every tutor will have to teach for atleast 4 hrs." :O :O
First thought-"Ohh thats nuthin! I will manage no matter what!"
A friend calls me up...
Friend-"Do you hv a driving license? they hv askd for it"
Tongue-"No..but college id wud do!"
Mind-"Wat d hell wud dey do wid a driving license? wud i b teaching maths or giving them driving lessons?"
Friend-"U hv ur tuitions too..hw r u going to devote those 4 hrs?"
MIND+TONGUE-"Gosh! I neva thot abt it..shit its neva gonna happen...i need to set my priorities first..GATE is far more important than al dis"
Well if you think that juggling a lot many things can make you a superman, you are wrong!! Multi-tasking can be one hell of a chore to be perfect at though being so very revered in our society. It could be really dangerous as it mostly leads to mediocrity at all the things you are juggling with and excellence at none! It happens to almost everyone of us that we find our keys missing or id cards missing! Havent you ever sent a text message to the wrong person? All this could have happened due to the distractions u were having while you were placing those keys or id cards sumwhere or texting sumone!!
The term "multitasking" originated in the computer engineering industry. It was used to refer the ability of a microprocessor to apparently process several tasks simultaneously. Although it proved to be very efficient for computers, it is a bit too risky for human beings. Focusing and multi-tasking can never be done congruously. When one portion of our brain tries focusing on something, the other pings- "Have u bought mum's bday gift?" or "When will you complete your assignment?" or "When will you write your journal?" etc! This leads to nothing but as they say-
So sometimes it is better to listen to your head than to your heart
ReplyDeleteoh dis happens to me like a zillion times. bein an accounts student, v hav balance sheets to tally n dey r soooo damn long dat in d meantime u listen to a littl music, attend a coupl of calls, get hungry so attack d fridge n at d end d balanc sheet is a mess...wich btw takes another half hour to set rite :o
ReplyDelete@sadiya...firstly,thanks so much for commenting! loved ur blog :)
ReplyDeletei try doin d same things while i m writin sum journal n d consequence is d same i.e. screwing up everything. once i even hd to write the journal again from the begining! maintaining a to-do list is d best way to evade screwing up! :)
You r absolutely right!Multi-tasking is an uphill task. You try to do many tasks swiftly, but to be in scheduled manner.Concentrate and do your tasks. For instance ,an athlete who runs in a race.He wishes to be a winner. An athlete somehow came to first place but what would be the state if he runs out of track.Feckless attempts to be a winner! So an athlete should aim on the goal as well as the track. Two tasks at a time. Not a multitasking.A driver does multitasking too.He should concentrate on every movements, every vehicles, and keep maintain the distance b/w the vehicles.Men have conquered multitasking.Practice makes a man perfect, whatever the tasks may be.
ReplyDelete@franklin...thanks for commenting! I completely agree to the athlete example dt u gave! And yes man has definitly been successful in conquering multitasking...and it is still in process!
